OPENING NIGHT FILM

Inspired by the Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet is a wonderous and richly-animated adaption of one of the bestselling volumes of poetry of all time. A passion project of actor-producer Salma Hayek, the film is directed by Roger Allers (The Lion King), and showcases the work of ten internationally acclaimed animators.

Almitra, a precocious young girl who has not spoken since the death of her father, befriends the poet and political prisoner Mustafa. After seven years of imprisonment, he remains as positive and understanding as the day he was jailed. His poetry inspired the people of a small port city to question the authority of their leaders. Mustafa’s teachings have survived his absence and will likely outlive his presence.

Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet is a deeply spiritual experience, worthy of Gibran's time-honoured and magical book.
